Greta Thunberg’s Speech at Climate Talks

The 18-year-old criticized the global leaders over their promises and commitments to address the climate emergency. She quoted a statement by Boris Johnson:”This is not some expensive, politically correct, green act of bunny hugging”, and Narendra Modi: “Fighting climate change calls for innovation, cooperation and willpower” but she said the science did not lie. Greta Thunberg further said, our ambitions and hopes seemed nothing but their empty promises. According to the UN, Carbon emissions are stabilized and can be raised by 16% by 2030.

The youngsters who took part in the summit submitted proposals for global leaders to focus on addressing or implementing to combat climate change. They will meet in Milan soon this year to talk about climate change for the last time before the United Nations Change Conference on 31 October November in Glasgow, Uk.Thunberg said we still can make it possible. International leaders lack action and disappoint all present and future generations. According to the study published on Monday, children who are born today may experience several times more high-level heat waves. They can face more climate disasters during their lifetimes than their grandparents, even countries attempting to fulfill their current emissions pledges.

Thunberg and hundreds of young people around the world are taking part  in the Youth4Climate Summit. The summit is hosted by the Italian Government who is the Uk’s partner in running cop26. This summit contains working young people who debate on increasing their contribution in decision making, climate change, and how education can impact a climate-conscious society. 

Who is Greta Thunberg?

Greta Thunberg is a Swedish environmental activist who works to solve the problem of climate change. She founded a movement in 2018 known as the “Friday for Future”, which is also called School Strike For Climate). She was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome that is now called an autism spectrum disorder(ASD).
