To get answers to all of these questions, get into our blog to know more.
The famous Hollywood Chamber of Commerce chooses around 24 celebrities every year to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. But, it is not easy as it sounds. Technically speaking, anyone can apply for the Hollywood Walk of Fame under any one of these five categories: film, TV, radio, recording, and theatre/ live performance.
First of all, you have to be popular or be famous in your field for five years. If you are not, then your application will be rejected. Then, someone has to nominate these celebrity people. It can be anyone from a publicist to a die-hard fan. Then they must obtain the celebrity’s permission by having the candidate sign in a form indicating that they want a star and that they will attend the unveiling.
Some of you might think that “is the Hollywood Walk of Fame free?” No, it is not. After all these processes, if a person’s application is approved, then the person who nominated them is responsible for paying $30,000 to $50,000. The Chamber of Commerce reports that half of the cost goes into building the star, which is made out of brass and terrazzo – a black and red speckled material. The remaining amount will be used for the upkeep of the Hollywood trust, which looks after the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
