Do You Know Who Was the Youngest U.S. President?

Joe Biden, the 46th U.S. President, became the 6th youngest senator after being elected for the New Castle County Council in 1970 at the age of 29 years, but he became President only at the age of 78. So, do you know who the youngest President of the United States of America was?

Eligibility Criteria

Let’s understand the eligibility criteria that need to be met by presidential candidates before revealing the name of the youngest U.S. President:

  1. The person should be a natural-born citizen of the U.S.
  2. I should have been a resident of the U.S. for 14 years.
  3. The minimum age limit for the candidates is 35 years

These rules have been the same since George Washington, the first president of the U.S., took his office. There were few controversies regarding the parental citizenship status when Barack Obama stood which later got eliminated.

How Old Was John Kennedy When He Was Elected President?
  • A. 41 Years Old
  • B. 42 Years Old
  • C. 43 Years Old
  • D. 44 Years Old

Youngest U.S. President

Theodore Roosevelt assumed office as the 26th President in September 1901 at the age of 42 years following the assassination of the then-elected President William Mckinley.

William Mckinley was assassinated on September 6, 1901, by Leon Czolgosz to advance anarchism. The assassin was later executed on an electric chair in October.

President Teddy Roosevelt, Mckinley’s running mate/vice-president, assumed the presidency to maintain peace and order.

Youngest Elected President

President John F. Kennedy can also be considered the youngest elected president to assume office at 43 years. While President T.R. is technically the youngest, he was not elected by the citizens. On the other hand, President Kennedy was the youngest person to be elected by the citizens of America. He took his oath of office on 20th January 1961 as the 35th President.

What is the youngest age to be president of the United States?

As discussed earlier, any U.S.-born citizen who is 35 years of age or older can apply for Presidential candidacy.
