British teenage tennis star Emma Raducanu sets a new record by winning the Grand Slam. She was crowned US Open champion and earned $2.5 million. She told ESPN that her main goal was to win a prize to buy new Airpods as she lost her Airpods recently. The 18-year-old completed the US Open women’s final and defeated Canadian Leylah Fernandez 6-4, 6-3 in the US Open women’s final. She was the first-ever qualifier to win a Grand Slam title and became the first British woman to hoist a big trophy since Virginia Wade’s achievement at Wimbledon in 1977. During an interview with ESPN, Emma Raducanu said, “There’s a running joke in my team because before my first-round qualifying match, I lost my AirPods, and I was running around the changing room like three minutes before my call to go on trying to find it, but I lost it.” Emma Raducanu was born on 13 November 2002 in Toronto. She has been living in London with her parents since she was two years old. Her mother is from China, and her father is Romanian. On 13 September 2021, she achieved her career-high singles ranking of World No. 23. She became British’s No.1.

She moved from juniors to WTA tournaments between 2018 to 2019. In December 2019, she earned $25,000 by achieving the ITF NECC-Deccan in Pune, India. Several tennis tournaments have been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She took part in exhibition games and small tournaments in the United Kingdom. In December 2020, she earned the LTA British Tour Masters title. She spent her time in academic studies while training for her A-Levels which she participated in 2021.
