Katherine Hepburn was born on May 12, 1907, in Hartford, Connecticut, USA. Hepburn was celebrated as a Hollywood icon and she is one of America’s great film and stage actresses. Through her marvelous acting skills, she ruled Hollywood for almost seventy years. Hepburn holds the record for the most Academy Awards for Best Actress. During the beginning of her acting career, she was named as “box office poison” because of unsuccessful films she made under some studio contract.
Apart from her Oscars, Hepburn is best known for her independence, intelligence, and naughty behavior. Hepburn was not a usual type of actress, she wore men’s clothing during the period when women wore only skirts. She was always seen wearing slacks and was in a no-makeup look. Hepburn refused to pose for a picture and interviews. The audience was shocked by her unconventional attitude and personality.
Over her acting career, Hepburn won four Oscars. She got her first Oscar in 1934 and the other three awards later in her 66-year movie career. Hepburn won or was nominated for the Oscars“ Best Actress in a Leading Role” for the following films.

It is said that Katharine Hepburn never came to any Oscar ceremony to receive them. Katherine used to say “As for me prizes are nothing” and “My prize is my work.” Katherine faced several criticisms for her attitude and character. She was called “Hollywood’s most baffling question mark” because of her harsh behavior with the press. When she took control over her career she was called bossy. Hepburn was also called “Katherine of Arrogance” in a famous 1940 magazine. Hepburn was judged so harshly for not settling down and having kids. But till now, after many decades, no one has beaten the historic record of the “Most Oscar-winning actress” Katharine Hepburn. The legendary actress died in 2003 at the age of 96.
