Champagne Cork Deaths

24 people die every year from being hit by champagne corks, usually in the face at the weddings. Improper cork removal techniques cause fatal and can potentially blind your eyes. According to experts, champagne bottles contain pressure as high as 90 pounds per square inch, more than the pressure found inside a car tire. This hit will cause a serious injury to the face and other areas where it hits.

Vending Machines Deaths per Year

Did you know that machines kill 13 people a year by falling on top of them? Every year vending machines kill 4 times as many people as sharks. The yearly risk in the U.S. of dying from a shark bite is roughly 1 in 250 million. The odds of getting killed by a shark and a vending machine are about even now.     

Do Coconuts Kill More Than Sharks?

Coconuts cause around 150 deaths each year when they fall from the tree.

George Burgess, Director of the University of Florida’s International Shark Attack File and a noted shark researcher, said that, “Falling coconuts kill 150 people worldwide each year, 15 times the number of fatalities attributable to sharks.”
