Few Borrowed Easter Traditions

Most traditions worldwide have been influenced by the county’s rulers, immigrants, and new trends. Here is a list of Easter traditions that were picked up in the later years.

  • The Easter bunny was a German tradition and brought to the U.S. by Dutch settlers.
  • The colored eggs represent the blood of Jesus Christ, influenced by the Christians of Mesopotamia.
  • Easter was named after the German goddess Eostre, who represents fertility.
  • Easter lilies originated in Japan and were brought to the U.S. only after ww1.
  • Easter has its roots in the Jewish Passover festival celebrated during the early spring season, where people usually consumed the ham curated during the winters. This is the reason behind most American dinners having ham on their menus.
