Everything You Should Know About GUCCI

  1. Gucci was founded by Guccio Gucci in 1921 in Florence, Italy. It is a luxury brand that sells shoes, belts, handbags, and other accessories. Guccio was 40 when he founded the company and the brand logo GG stands for his name. However, the logo was designed only in 1960 after Gucci’s death.
  2. When the brand first started, it started manufacturing leather saddles and accessories for horseback riders. This is one of the reasons for the launch of its popular horse-bit collection.
  3. The brand is so expensive because of its procurement of the best quality raw materials and latest manufacturing methods. It also uses top-class designers making it a luxury brand.
  4. Guccio was working as an elevator operator at the Savoy Hotel in London when he was inspired to start his own luxury fashion brand from celebrities like Winston Churchill and Marilyn Monroe.
  5. Though founded in Italy, most of GUCCI’s style is based on the fashion in England.
  6. Apart from leather, GUCCI also used to produce linen and burnished cane bags. These burnished bags are still popular among buyers.
  7. Today, you may witness several runway shows, but back in time, GUCCI’s first runway show was held sixty years after the brand was founded.
  8. GUCCI entered the Guinness World Records for its most expensive pair of jeans “Genius Jeans” at that time. In 1998, it cost $3, 134.
  9. Though the famous GG logo was on the bags and other accessories designed by the company, it officially was imprinted on the logo only in 1992.
  10. GUCCI is currently owned by a French company Kering.
  11. The Princess of Monaco asked GUCCI to design her a floral pink scarf in 1960. It is one of the most prized possessions of GUCCI to date and was designed by Rodolfo Gucci, Guccio’s son.
  12. GUCCI is ranked as #36 on the World’s Most Valuable Brands List.
