Facts about BMX Bike Racing in Duke City

BMX racing is decent, mind-boggling, and wholesome sport becoming an Olympic sport in 2008, BMX is a great option for offering an individual sport “where nobody sits on the bench” and the entire family and friends can participate. Its races are organized according to age group and capabilities so that racers everywhere can get the opportunity to match up to compete for awards and ABA points according to the rules.

The BMX which stands for “Bicycle Motorcross” began in the early 1970s in the United States when children started racing their bicycles on dirt tracks in southern California. It inspired many to start a BMX race track but the Duke City BMX has the largest covered BMX facility in the United States of America. The growth of USA BMX has been phenomenal especially in the past several years.

The track is operated by nonprofit Duke City BMX and it is situated at the southeast corner of Buena Vista and Cesar Chavez. Duke City BMX is easy to get to from anywhere in the state, especially from the airport, Albuquerque International Sunport which is only a few minutes away. It was modernized by a 22-year old racer named Davis who got obsessed with BMX racing after his dad took him to a BMX Track in Albuquerque’s North Valley and never stopped since. He designs and builds BMX tracks on the land owned by the city. The track is home to numerous state, national, and even world champion BMX riders, along with countless riders from the age of 3 to all the way up to about 68.

The BMX track will welcome riders on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays almost every week of the year. “The thing about BMX is, It’s all about having fun on your bike. That’s where the passion really comes in” he said.
