The band was composed of lead singer Adam Levine, drummer Ryan Dusick, guitarist Jesse Carmichael, and bassist Michael Madden.

The gang signed with Reprise Records in 1997, and in 2001 they released the studio album named The Fourth World. In the same year, James Valentine, who is a guitarist, joined the band. Dusick quit the band in 2006. Matt Fynn became a new drummer. After changing the name, Maroon 5 released their first song, Songs About Jane in 2002.

The band released the single “Moves Like Jagger,” starring pop singer Christina Aguilera on June 22, 2011. The release was in promotion of the show The Voice on NBC. The single became #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. In June 2012, Adam Levine became the first American Season of The Voice and his partner Javier Colon.

The members stated that they would be working on a fourth studio album released at the beginning of 2012. The song named “Life After You” was predicted to be released before 2012. 

The song called “Wipe Your Eyes” was leaked on the internet on January 15, 2012. It is stated that this song was produced by a music producer J.R. Rotem.

Rolling Stone’s magazine declared that the band would release their fourth studio album, Overexposed, on June 26, 2012. The band worked with famous producer Max Martin and Benjamin Levin and OneRepublic’s lead singer, Ryan Tedder. The album titled Payphone was released on April 17, 2012.

The fifth studio album V was released. The album Red Pill Blues was released on 2017 November 3.
