Enovid was the first contraceptive in the USA. It was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as contraception in 1957 to use for the treatment of menstrual disorders. Enovid was the first combination of oral contraceptive pill (COCP) also known as Mestranol/norethynodrel. It is legally approved by the FDA in 1960 and became prescribable in the country. Enovid is sold in the United States which was developed by Dr. Gregory Pincus at G. D. Searle & Company.
