Some Facts About Queen Elizabeth II

Queen Elizabeth II was the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York. She became the heir presumptive in 1936 when her father, Duke of York (later King George VI), became the King of England the same year—his brother abdicated the throne.

Queen Elizabeth II underwent private education at home and started serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service, during the time of the Second World War. In 1947, Elizabeth married Philip Mountbatten, a former Prince of Greece and Denmark. She has four children—Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, Prince Andrew, Duke of York, Anne, Princess Royal, Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.

Queen Elizabeth II is the oldest female and longest British sovereign ruler in history. Queen’s crowning celebrations of silver, Golden, Diamond, and Platinum jubilees took place in 1977, 2002, 2012, and 2022 respectively. She headed the London banquet accompanied by the leaders of the 36 members of the Commonwealth during her Silver Jubilee and traveled all over Britain, Northern Ireland, and toured the South Pacific, Australia, Canada, and the Caribbean.
