Canadians will vote on September 20 to elect the 44th Parliament. During the voting, the Liberal Party leader Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, will be in the head-to-head battle with his Conservative Party opponent Erin O’Toole. Justin Trudeau has pitched about improvements to the Covid-19 pandemic and leveraging the wedge issue of vaccine passports. The opposition Conservative’s leader Erin O’Toole was against the imposition of necessary vaccination. Justin Trudeau

Since November 2015, Justin Trudeau has been the current and 23rd Prime Minister of Canada. He has been the leader of the Liberal Party since 2013. He is also known as the second youngest Prime Minister in Canada. He won the 2015 Federal elections. His major accomplishments are he took legal action against marijuana through Cannabis Act, also established a federal carbon tax. He made some foreign policies established to make Canada less dependent on the United States and the United Kingdom. During the 2019 federal elections, Justin Trudeau secured a second time as the Prime Minister of Canada. In 2013, he won the Liberal leadership. His party promised to spend 78 billion Canadian dollars on healthcare. They also pitched to provide free COVID-19 booster jabs for citizens and $1bn in funding to provinces and territories that want to use vaccine passport systems. In the past weeks, it also pledged to offer 10 million dollars to help indigenous people and make arrangements for 40,000 afghan refugees settlement.

Erin O’Toole

Erin O’Toole is well-known as a politician and serves as the Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada. In 2020, he became the leader of the Conservative party of Canada. He was defeated in the 2019 Canadian election. He became a member of parliament in the eastern Ontario riding of Durham and won the party leadership in 2020.

The Conservatives party gets support from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec. They pledged to offer 30% of all light-duty vehicle sales, including passenger cars, to become zero-emission vehicles by 2030. They also promised new investments. If O’Toole is elected, the party will maintain the budget within 10 years without any cut-through economic development plan. On COVID-19, he stated that he would work with Canadian provinces to introduce the countrywide proof-of-vaccination program. He was against the mandatory vaccination for federal workers and didn’t make it necessary for Conservative candidates to immunize. The party also promised that they would resettle around 20,000 Afghans.
