Chris Pine blessed fans with his presence at the SDCC to promote the long-awaited D&D live-action film, releasing March 3, 2023. The fantasy role-playing game stars big-shot actors like Michelle Rodriguez, Jeremy Irons and Regé-Jean Page.
Ever since Netflix streamed the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender in 2020, the huge fanbase it had spurred back to life. Without a doubt, the show gained popularity even after almost two decades. The renewed popularity made Nickelodeon launch Avatar Studios to expand the Avatar Universe.
Besides, rumors about potential movies based on other Avatars, particularly, Kyoshi and the adult Gaang, spread like wildfire. Janet Varney, the voice actress of Avatar Korra, gave a virtual announcement that the first-ever Avatar Studios project will be about Avatar Aang and his friends (Presumably Katara, Sokka, Toph and Fire Lord Zuko), scheduled to release in 2024.
SDCC is an event of surprises. Briefly, Keanu Reeves made a surprise appearance at the SDCC to release the first teaser of his upcoming action piece, John Wick: Chapter 4. Part four of the action-packed franchise releases on March 24, 2023.
SDCC was a treat for fantasy genre fans. The panel revealed new trailers of the biggest fantasy projects releasing this year.
Amazon revealed a new trailer of the much-anticipated prequel series of the LOTR franchise, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power—airing September 2, 2022.
HBO stunned fans with exclusive footage of “House of the Dragon.” The Game of Thrones prequel series premieres on August 21, 2022.
“Welcome to the Multiverse!” Hall H filled with thunderous roars as Marvel Studios revealed not just one but numerous film and television projects for the upcoming phases.
From Secret Invasion to Daredevil: Born Again, Phases Four to Six, collectively known as “The Multiverse Saga,” the projects announced will likely cause a huge shift in the world of superheroes—for the better.
Phase Four—that began with the Studios’ first-ever television series, WandaVision—will conclude with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
And it looks like Phase Five’s main aim is to introduce the new members of the superhero universe! Phase Five kick starts with Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania and ends with the highly anticipated Thunderbolts.
Most importantly, the studios startled fans by providing scant details regarding Phase Six. The Phase includes three (mind-blowing) projects—Fantastic Four, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. Yes, that’s right! Fans are getting two Avengers movies in the same year!
