The successful theme restaurant was founded by Robert Earl and partnered by the Hollywood stars Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Bruce Willis who are also the stockholders of the trademark.  The restaurant was first launched in New York City in the year 1991. Many Hollywood celebrities including Whoopi Goldberg, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Don Johnson, Melanie Griffith, Tom Arnold, Wesley Snipes, and Danny Glover have endorsed and done promotional activities for the restaurant. Planet Hollywood is the only banquet that was created for the love of Hollywood. 

The Planet Hollywood restaurant has a theme of Hollywood movies, characters, and stars and is one of the coolest celebrity-owned restaurants. The interiors showcase memorabilia from different movies like the jacket Sylvester Stallone wore in a movie or the Motorbike used by Bruce Willis in the movie Die Hard, the bikini was worn on screen by Marilyn Monroe, and much more. The restaurant serves an American menu which includes steaks, burgers, pizza, baked chicken dishes, shrimps, salads, lots of desserts. To add further glam to the ambience the restaurants are equipped with screens that play movie scenes and music and amuse the customers.  

As the Planet Hollywood restaurant gained huge popularity and success within a year of launching branches were opened in 3 more locations and one of them was overseas, London followed by California and Chicago in 1993.  In London, it was originally opened in Piccadilly Circus and after celebrating 25 years of success it is moved to Haymarket, the most happening place in London. It has the biggest theme cocktail bar emphasizing British memorabilia. The Bond Room, British Room, and Beach Bar style Cabanas room. 

The walls are decorated with celebrity handprints and souvenirs used in the movie. There is also a sale of branded goods including t-shirts, sweatshirts, caps, hoodies, glassware, keyrings, bags, fridge magnets, and toys. Today Planet Hollywood restaurant is the biggest multi-unit franchise and has its presence in 6 locations around the world.  It has plans to open in the Middle East and also in developing countries like India.
