Don Clayton invented the Putt-Putt in the 1950s. It was founded to emphasize the player’s skill and improvement. Don Clayton, the founder of ‘Putt Putt Golf Courses decided to design short holes so that a hole-in-one can be scored on each hole with a perfect putt. He began advertising putt putt as a serious sport and organized tournaments around the world providing huge prize money. Everyone was attracted to this unbelievable announcement.

Putt Putt golf courses built a more well-aligned arrangement of holes with restricted obstacles like small holes, pipes, and blockers whereas, mini golf courses made with complex themes like random obstacles were placed and have uneven borders. Miniature golf courses made with realistic obstacles such as waterfalls, windmills or mimic the real sport of golf.

The mini golf sport has been related to several names such as miniature golf, crazy golf, adventure golf, extreme golf, and putt-putt.

Mini-golf courses began to use artificial greens in the early 20th century. A good artificial grass can create a good golf course because it changes the experience of the game drastically.
