After WW2, the United States was ready to have fun again. The Putt-Putt® Corporation was formed in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The corporation wanted to take miniature golf seriously. In 1930s mini golf became expensive so they began to use cheaper alternatives such as obstacles like barrels, tires, and old drain pipes.
Don Clayton, the founder of ‘Putt Putt Golf Courses decided to design short holes so that a hole-in-one can be scored on each hole with a perfect putt. He began advertising putt putt as a serious sport and organized tournaments around the world providing huge prize money. Everyone was attracted to this unbelievable announcement.
Putt Putt golf courses built a more well-aligned arrangement of holes with restricted obstacles like small holes, pipes, and blockers whereas, mini golf courses made with complex themes like random obstacles were placed and have uneven borders.
