  1. Before erasers were invented, a tablet of wax was used to remove the mistakes made by lead or charcoal marks in the paper. 
  2. Bread crumbs were also used as erasers. These bread crumbs were used during the Meiji period (1868-1912).
  3. Until 1770, the erasers were recognized as gum elastic. Later, an English engineer Edward Nairne first developed the marketplace for a rubber eraser.
  4. Gum erasers are also known as art gum were first used in the year 1903. These art gums were made up of corn oils.
  5. Kneaded erasers are also known as putty rubbers that pencil artists widely use as they have more rubber consistency. 
    1. Arthur Dremel invented electric erasers in 1932. The speed of rotation while removing the mistake helped to reduce paper damage.
  6. While regular erasers were made out of synthetic materials, pink erasers are made of vinyl. 
  7. The pencil top erasers and the famously known pink erasers are made out of volcanic ash or pulverized pumice stone to add abrasiveness. 
  8. What are erasers made of? The erasers are made up of many different materials, pulverized pumice, synthetic rubber, vinyl, etc.
  9. Erasers normally remove the mistakes made with a pencil, usually, graphite but ink, chalk, and whiteboard pen marks may also be removed with an acceptable eraser.
