Old Hollywood refers to the 1930s-1960s time period in American cinema. Also called the Golden Age of Hollywood and the Studio Era, this was when radically different visual and sound practices came about in Hollywood. Before this era, there were only ‘silent films’ or ‘theater plays’ in America. Here we covered some most beautiful Hollywood actress in olden days.
At the end of World War I, rapid industrialization took place across Europe and America, which saw technological advances in image and sound recording. More film studios were established, and more films were produced, increasing the number of actors and actresses being discovered.
Such discovery led to Old Hollywood having the most beautiful leading ladies on film across Europe and North America. Deemed fit to grace the black and white and Technicolor screens of those years – Ingrid Bergman, Greta Garbo, Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren became household names. This still leaves so many actresses we would have seen and missed – here are some.
Marlene Dietrich
In 1930, Dietrich was launched into stardom with her performance in The Blue Angel film. After this time, she moved to Hollywood and became a famous actress. In the 1930s and 1940s, she starred in many hits, including Shanghai Express (1932), I Love a Soldier (1936), Manpower (1941), and The Lady is Willing (1942). In such films, she co-starred with many famous actors, including Charles Boyer, Fred MacMurray, John Wayne, and Cesar Romero.
Dorothy Dandridge
An American singer and film actress who was the first black woman to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best actress.

Rita Moreno
The Puerto Rican actress broke boundaries and records as the only Hispanic actress ever to win the big four in entertainment awards: an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony(EGOT). She’s best known for her role in 1961’s West Side Story.
Lauren Bacall
She’s most famous for her roles in The Big Sleep, How to Marry a Millionaire, Key Largo, and her husky voice. She was also married to the very famous Humphrey Bogart.
Anna May Wong
Anna May Wong made her on-screen debut in The Red Lantern when she was just 14 years old and soon became Hollywood’s first Asian American film star. Her beauty was undeniable, and she achieved much success as a leading lady in the ’20s and ’30s, although she was consistently marginalized in the industry.
