This airport in Atlanta is ranked number 1 for handling over 75 million passengers in 2021. It is also home to Delta Airlines.
Coming in 2nd is Dallas/Fort Worth with more than 63 million passenger footfall.The airport serves the Dallas metropolitan area and is America’s largest base.
Denver International moved 59 million passengers in 2021, which is 74.7% higher than the 2020 results.
Chicago O’Hare is an airport hub for low-cost rivals Spirit Airlines and Frontier Airlines. Chicago International has a footfall of over 54 million passengers in 2021, up to a 75.1% gain from 2020. However, 36.2% decrease compared to 2019.
Alaska Airlines, United Airlines, American, and Delta Air Lines are a few carriers that fly from Los Angeles International airport. It handled 48 million tourists in 2021, which was a 66.8% increase in traffic compared to 2020. Passenger traffic volume is a 45.5% drop-off compared to 2019.
Charlotte Douglas handled nearly 43.3 million travelers in 2021, which is 59.2% more compared to 2020, but it is still a 13.4% decline when compared to 2019. It ranked as the 34th busiest airport that year.
Orlando International managed 40.3 million passengers in 2021, experiencing the biggest increase in traffic rate at 86.7% compared to 2020. No major airline uses the airport as a hub and it fell 20.3% compared to 2019.
In 2020, Guangzhou was the busiest airport in the world, sweeping the title from Atlanta. Guangzhou sees China Southern Airlines, 9 Air, FedEx Express, Shenzhen Airlines, and Hainan Airlines. The airport handled about 4.2 million passengers in 2021. In 2021, it saw the biggest drop in passenger volume when compared to other airports.
Chengdu Shuangliu in China managed 40 million travelers in 2021, which was 1.5% less than in 2020 and 28.2% below 2019 results. This airport has several Asian carriers like Air China, Chengdu Airlines, and Sichuan Airlines.
In 2021, nearly 40 million passengers transported through Las Vegas airport. This airport has the second-biggest increase in passenger traffic compared to 2020 at 78.6%. The volume fell 23.1% percent compared to 2019.
