Boston Bruins

This professional ice hockey team is based in Boston. They play for the NHL as a member of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. The Bruins participated in the Stanley cup finals 19 times and won six times. They are the third oldest team in the US.

New England Patriots (NFL)

The New England Patriots were originally called Boston Patriots and changed the name to New England Patriots in 1971. They became a member of the AFL on November 1st, 1959, based in the Greater Boston area.

Boston Celtics (NBA)

In NBA history, the Celtics are the most popular and successful franchise that holds 17 championships. The Boston Celtics received their first championship in 1957. The team played the Lakers in the NBA Finals 12 times. The Boston Celtics have had 16 different owners in their history.

New England Whalers (WHA)

The Hartford Whalers initially belonged to Boston. The team joined the WHA in the league’s inaugural season. Hence, they were called the New England Whalers during the WHA. They won 3 times in their 18 years participating in the NHL. They won only one playoff series that helped to earn a title for the team- “The Forever .500s”

The minor league baseball teams in Massachusetts include Lowell Spinners, Worcester Tornadoes, Worcester Red Sox, Portland Sea Dogs, Bridgeport Bluefish, Brockton Rox. Connecticut Tigers, New Britain Rock Cats, and Vermont Lake Monsters.
