Everything You Need to Know About the USA Cricket Training Group

USA cricket announced their Men’s Under 19 Training Group after the conclusion of successful Men’s under 19 National Championships. Nearly 112 young cricketers across America played 16 matches and were crowned as the National Champions. The National Youth Selection Committee selected 26 players, all having participated in the National Championships. The selected players will have the opportunity to work with the head coach, Kevin Darlington. The best in the training group will be selected for the USA Under 19 Men’s side and further to qualify for the ICC under 19 Cricket World Cup through the ICC Americas’ Regional Qualifier later this year. “The training group is an important step towards the ultimate goal of qualification to the Men’s Under 19 World Cup,” says Richard Done, USA Cricket Operations Director.

Facts About USA Cricket Training Group

• The squad has many leading performers including three individual award winners from the national championships.
• Nearly 6000 runs were scored and 225 wickets were taken across 16 matches, 7 of the players who performed well were selected in this training group.  
• Individual award winners were all selected for the training group. 
• Taaha Warraich, the sixth leading run-scorer in the tournament was not included in the training group.
• Every team from the National Championships received representation- Six from Southwest Zone, Five from West Zone Reds, four from Mid-Atlantic Zone, four from Colts, and one each from Midwest Zone, West Zone Blues, and East Zone.  
• Leading run scorer-Rehman Dar, Player of the tournament- Sai Mukkamalla, leading wicket-taker- Sanjay Krishnamurthi were all in the training group.
