Who is the most famous missing person? Amelia Earhart’s disappearance is considered one of the great unsolved mysteries. In 1932, she made history by flying across the Atlantic alone which no other woman achieved before. On her second attempt to orbit the globe in 1937, Earhart and the navigator vanished over the Pacific, near Howland Island. Did she crash or was captured by the Japanese? Some think she was imprisoned by hostile forces and others assume she crashed. Earhart was officially declared dead in 1939 and the US government concluded the duo had run out of fuel and crashed into the ocean.

A popular prominent figure served as President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters from 1957 to 1971. On July 30, 1975, he had a meeting with criminals Anthony Provenzano and Anthony Giacalone. But, he never returned and his unlocked car was found in the parking lot. Some people suspect that Hoffa was assassinated by the mob. 

Edward V of England 

He was the eldest son of King Edward IV and Queen Woodville. After the king’s death, the prince’s uncles questioned the legitimacy of the late monarch’s marriage to the queen. As the situation escalated, Prince Edward V and his brother Prince Richard were locked in the Tower of London. There are rumors that the Princes were murdered by King Richard III. The traces of this historical missing person have not been found yet.

Bison Dele, a basketball star was a strong player for teams such as the Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers, Orlando Magic, and Denver Nuggets. Unfortunately, he was one of the most famous celebrities who went missing. Dele disappeared along with his girlfriend, brother, and skipper on a boat trip to Tahiti but never returned. However, his brother returned alone and was the prime suspect. From the bullet holes in the boat, the police suspected he shot Dele and others and threw them overboard. But Dele’s body was never found.

Michael Rockefeller

Michael Rockefeller, the son of New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller was interested in travel photography and art collection at the age of 23. In November 1961, he went missing during his trip to see the native Asmat tribes. His body was not found even after two weeks of searching and the official cause of death was marked as drowning. But the conspiracy theories never stopped, with people guessing he was eaten by sharks or even killed by the Asmat tribes. The tribes were cannibals and tended to provide sacrifices for rituals. Michael Rockefeller became one of the most unsolved celebrity disappearances.

Oscar Zeta Acosta 

He was a famous Mexican-American attorney, activist, and author in the Chicago movement. Hunter S Thomson, a good friend of Oscar shared his experience with him when traveling to the desert city. In 1974, Oscar Zeta disappeared during a trip to Mexico. He spoke to his son before vanishing but no one heard from him again.

With the case closed as an accidental drowning, conspiracy theories, on the other hand, shot out several guesses with one even saying he was taken by a Chinese submarine.
